Privacy
What you send is used for what you asked for, and nothing else.
This page explains what happens to the personal information you give us through this website, and when you contact us. It covers:
- the enquiry form on our Contact page;
- the Insights page, where you can ask us to send you our thinking;
- booking a 1-to-1;
- contacting us by phone or e-mail.
Who we are
Synergy Markets Ltd is responsible for the personal information you send us through this website. We are registered in England and Wales (company number 08843450). Our registered office is Tower 42, International Finance Centre, 25 Old Broad Street, London, EC2N 1HN. We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), firm reference number 623190.
What the enquiry form asks for
- your note, in your own words;
- your name;
- an e-mail address, a phone number, or both — only what we need to reply in the way you choose.
We also note which page of the site you came from, so we can start our reply in the right place. The form asks for nothing else.
Please don’t put account numbers, passwords or financial documents in your note. We don’t need them for a first conversation, and nobody from Synergy will ask you for them at this stage.
What we use it for
To reply to you. Your enquiry is reviewed by Synergy and we respond to it. We don’t use what you send through the enquiry form for marketing, we don’t sell it, and we don’t share it for anyone else’s purposes.
Why we’re allowed to use it
Data-protection law lets us use your information only when we have a proper reason. Ours are:
- You’ve asked us to do something. When you ask us to contact you, book a conversation or send you something, we use your details to do it, even before you have any agreement with us.
- We have a genuine need, which the law calls a “legitimate interest”. We need to answer people who contact us, and to keep a record of how we dealt with them. If you unsubscribe from our e-mails, we also keep your e-mail address on a “do not send” list, with a record of what you had agreed to. That way we respect your choice and can show what was agreed.
- You’ve given us your permission. We send you regular e-mails only if you’ve agreed to them, and you can withdraw that permission at any time.
- The law requires it. We deal with data-protection requests and complaints because the law says we must.
Where your note goes
When you send the enquiry form, your note travels through our website’s hosting service to our own records in Google Workspace, and we are told by e-mail that it has arrived. The page tells you your note has been received only once our records confirm that it has been safely stored. If that confirmation doesn’t come, the page tells you so, and you can try again or contact us another way.
Who helps us handle it
We use these service providers, who act only on our instructions:
- Vercel, which hosts our website;
- Google Workspace, our e-mail, calendar and office software, where we keep the records of enquiries, bookings and Insights requests.
We don’t sell your details or share them for anyone else’s purposes.
If your information leaves the UK
Vercel and Google may handle your information outside the UK. When they do, it is protected in the way UK law requires. Either the country has been approved by the UK as protecting personal information properly, or the provider has agreed to the UK’s approved contract terms for sending personal information abroad. You can ask us for a copy of those terms.
How long we keep it
- If you become a client, your enquiry becomes part of your client file, which financial-services rules require us to keep.
- If you don’t, we keep your enquiry only for as long as we reasonably need to deal with it and to show how we dealt with it. Then we delete it.
- Insights: we keep your details until you unsubscribe. After that, we keep only your e-mail address on our “do not send” list, and the record of what you agreed to, for as long as we need them to respect your choice.
If you ask us to keep you posted
On the Insights page you can ask us to send you our investment thinking: the Investment Letter, notes from Synergy Intelligence, and Synergy’s notes on views published by BlackRock.
We ask only for your first name, your e-mail address and what you’d like to receive, and we use them only to send you what you asked for. If you also choose to hear from us regularly by e-mail, you can stop at any time: every e-mail tells you how, or you can simply e-mail us.
Your details are kept in our Google Workspace records, and Insights e-mails are sent from our own Google Workspace mailbox. We don’t pass your details to a separate mailing or marketing service, and we never sell them or share them for anyone else’s purposes.
We don’t share your details with BlackRock. If one of our notes links to material published by BlackRock, the link takes you to BlackRock’s own website, where BlackRock’s own terms and privacy notice apply.
Your rights
You can:
- ask what information we hold about you, and for a copy of it;
- ask us to correct it, or to delete it;
- ask us to limit how we use it, or object to our using it;
- tell us to stop sending you marketing at any time — we will always do so;
- ask for the information you gave us in a format you can take elsewhere, where the law allows;
- withdraw your permission at any time. This doesn’t affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
To do any of these, e-mail compliance@synergymarkets.co.uk, use the enquiry form, or write to us at Tower 42, International Finance Centre, 25 Old Broad Street, London, EC2N 1HN.
If you want to complain
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first, using the contact details above. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and reply without undue delay.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s data-protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by calling 0303 123 1113.
Do you have to give us this information?
No. But if you don’t, we can’t reply to you, book a conversation or send you what you asked for. We never make decisions about you automatically, by computer.
