“Our company has capital to invest. We want advice on how to invest it.”

Alex is a director of a company with capital available for investment. Synergy advises the company on its investments and works with the people authorised to act for it.

First, the company’s objectives. Synergy’s adviser establishes what the money is for, over what time it can be invested, and how much risk the company is prepared to take — agreed with the people authorised to act for it.

Then research, and a recommendation. Where it suits those objectives, Synergy recommends how the capital could be invested — individual equities it has researched, a Managed Portfolio, or a combination — and sets out the reasons, in writing, before anything is done. Sometimes the answer is that only part of the money should be invested, or that a particular route does not suit the company at all.

Then the decision. The company decides whether to proceed. Where it delegates to a Managed Portfolio, a separately regulated discretionary investment manager makes the day-to-day investment decisions inside a written mandate.

Synergy remains the company’s adviser — understanding its objectives, and available when those objectives or circumstances change.

The company is the client.

Synergy advises the company on how its capital could be invested, and deals only with the people authorised to act for it. The service is investment advice. It does not include tax or accounting advice, and Synergy does not advise on how much the company should keep back for its own needs — those decisions stay with the company and its own advisers.

Following that assessment, Synergy may advise on individual equities, a Managed Portfolio, or a combination — where each suits the company’s objectives. Nothing is assumed to be suitable in advance. A Managed Portfolio for a company depends on the platform accepting the company as a client.

If your company has capital to invest and wants advice on investing it, start with a conversation.

Investment Advice is a regulated advisory service delivered by the investment adviser against the company’s circumstances. Where a Managed Portfolio is suitable, a separately regulated discretionary manager makes the day-to-day investment decisions within a written mandate, and Synergy remains the adviser. Investments can fall as well as rise.
